Love Lane Cakery uses your information to deal with your enquiry or cake order, and we never sell it.

Who we are

Love Lane Cakery is run by Hannah H, a sole trader based in Cirencester, UK. We decide how your information is used, so we're responsible for it (the "controller"). Questions? Email [email address].

What we collect

When you fill in our order form, we collect:

  • your first and last name, phone number and email address

  • the date you need your cake and your order details, such as sponge flavour, shape, size and design

  • any food allergies or intolerances you tell us about

  • any inspiration photos you upload

If you place an order, we also keep a record of what you ordered and paid.

How we use it

  • To handle your enquiry and order: replying to you, giving you a quote and making your cake. We need your details to provide what you've asked for (lawful basis: contract).

  • To make your cake safely: allergies and intolerances are health information, which the law protects more strictly. We only use them for your order, with your explicit consent, which you give using the checkbox on our form. You can withdraw consent at any time, but we may then be unable to make your order safely.

  • To keep business records: we must keep records of our sales for tax (lawful basis: legal obligation).

We won't add you to a mailing list or send you marketing unless you ask us to.

Photos

We only use the inspiration photos you upload to plan and design your cake. We won't post them online or share them with anyone else.

We may share photos of cakes we've made on our website and social media, but we won't name you. If you'd rather we didn't share your cake, just tell us (lawful basis: our legitimate interest in showing our work).

Who we share it with

We only share your information with services that help us run the business, and only what they need:

  • Squarespace (our website and order form)

  • Google (our email)

  • Santander (to take payments)

Some of these providers store data outside the UK. When they do, they use legally approved safeguards to protect it. We'll also share information if the law requires us to.

How long we keep it

  • Enquiries that don't become orders: deleted within 3 months.

  • Allergy details and inspiration photos: deleted within 3 months of collection or delivery.

  • Order and payment records: kept for as long as HMRC requires (around 6 years).

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • send you a copy of your information

  • correct anything that's wrong

  • delete your information

  • restrict or object to how we use it

  • send your information to you or another organisation in a reusable format

You can also withdraw your consent for us to use your allergy information at any time. To use any of these rights, email info@lovelanecakery.co.uk and we'll reply within one month. Some rights have limits; for example, we must keep tax records.

Cookies

Our website runs on Squarespace, which uses essential cookies to make the site work. With your permission, it also uses analytics cookies that show us how visitors use the site. You can accept or decline these in our cookie banner, and block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please email info@lovelanecakery.co.uk. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and aim to put things right quickly.

You can also complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commission's Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
